A CCR Productions Recording

Performing a high-explosive brew of his mighty Texas-style, guitar-driven blues with a shot of zydeco, soul/blues and a little funk, Sherman Robertson is the legitimate successor of the late great Albert Collins. And Sherman loves to rock!

He was born in Beaux Bridge, Louisiana and grew-up Houston, Texas. During the 1960s when he was a young musician, he already worked with superstars Bobby 'Blue' Bland and Junior Parker. Later, he founded his own Crosstown Blues Band and made his first recordings for the Lunar #2 label in Texas. For the next five years he played guitar in the band of zydeco legend Clifton Chenier. When Paul Simon was in need of a guitar player for his multi-million selling 'Graceland' album, Sherman was on the shortlist – and he got the job.

This brought him to the attention of record producer Mike Vernon (John Mayall, Freddie King, Fleetwood Mac) who produced Sherman's 1993 'I'm The Man' album for Atlantic, followed by 'Here And Now'. In 1998 Sherman recorded his last studio album to date, 'Going Back Home' for the small Audioquest label – and for a couple of years almost disappeared from the international touring scene.

He continued to perform in the United States. To keep his personal and artistic independence, Sherman refused several exclusive offers from agencies and record companies. Finally, he accepted a European touring offer. Movinmusic agency from the UK, associated with BluesMove, a powerful, well-rehearsed and grooving combo, brought Sherman back to Europe on a regular basis. In the spring of 2005 their common, fulminant performance at the Kwadendamme Blues Festival in The Netherlands was professionally recorded – and is now available on CD! 'Guitar Man' ain't no comeback album in a narrower sense. This phenomenal live set is providing evidence for the relumed fire in the playing and singing of bluesman Sherman Robertson.

Not since the 1980s and the terrific comeback of Albert Collins, and Robert Cray's comet-like rise, the bluesworld has experienced anything comparable. Sherman Robertson is a persuasive vocalist and stunning guitar player. He performs the blues with passion and conviction.

We are proud to welcome Sherman Robertson & BluesMove on CrossCut!

Should there ever be a guitar hero to step into Buddy Guy's shoes then Sherman Robertson could be the very man

'Guitar Man' which documents his crowd-pleasing activities at a Belgian Blues Festival, proves that the man from Houston has lost none of his verve and enthusiasm over the years.
He has an expressive voice and wrings every ounce of emotion out of such heart-tugs as 'Make it Rain'. Blues as solid as they come'.
