MISSISSIPPI HEAT ist ein Bluesband-Konzept, eine Formation mit der Vision, Stärke und Leidenschaft, Tradition und Moderne gleichermaßen zu pflegen. Seit der Gründung 1991 hat die Band in wechselnden Besetzungen mehrere tausend Shows auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks gespielt, unermüdlich angetrieben von der konstanten Größe, Bandleader und Harmonicaspieler PIERRE LACOCQUE. Die Tageszeitung Chicago Reader schrieb einst: "Lacocque ist einer der wenigen Harpspieler der jüngeren Generation, der die Lehren von Raffinesse, Ruhe und Soloaufbau von den Meistern studiert hat ... jedoch ebenso deren ungezähmte instrumentale Kraft."

'Glad You're Mine' ist MISSISSIPPI HEATs sechstes Album, das bislang homogenste mit einer Kernbesetzung, die seit einigen Jahren unverändert geblieben ist. INETTA VISOR, eine der großen unbekannten schwarzen Stimmen Chicagos, hat sich zu einer stimmgewaltigen Frontfrau entwickelt; Gitarrist CHRIS WINTERS ist im Lauf der letzten Jahre aus dem Schatten der gastierenden bekannten Kollegen getreten – und mit Bassist SPURLING BANKS und Schlagzeuger KENNY SMITH (Sohn des langjährigen Muddy-Waters-Drummers Willie "Big Eyes" Smith) besitzt die Band eine hochklassige Rhythm Section. Neu sind Keyboarder CHRIS CAMERON und Gitarrist STEVE DOYLE, der sich bei Dirty Deal auf ein Frage-Antwort-Spiel mit dem 'achten Bandmitglied' und CrossCut-Künstler CARL WEATHERSBY einlässt.

MISSISSIPPI HEAT is a blues band concept, a formation with the vision to maintain strength and passion, tradition and modernity equally. Since its conception in 1991 the band has, with varying lineups, played umpteen thousand shows on both sides of the Atlantic, driven by the untiring consistent significance of band leader and harmonica player PIERRE LACOCQUE. The local daily Chicago Reader reports: "Lacocque is one of the few harp players of the younger generation who has studied the lessons of finesse, ease and solo-building from the masters ...and has also inherited their untamed instrumental power."

'Glad You're Mine' is MISSISSIPPI HEAT's sixth album. It's the most homogenous to date, with a core lineup that remained unchanged for some years. INETTA VISOR, one of Chicago’s great unknown black voices, has developed into a powerhouse of a front woman; guitarist CHRIS WINTERS has, during the course of the last years stepped out of the shadows of well-known guest performers – and with bassist SPURLING BANKS and drummer KENNY SMITH (son of long time Muddy Waters’ drummer Willie "Big Eyes" Smith) the band is in possession of a high class rhythm section. New to the group are keyboardist CHRIS CAMERON and guitarist STEVE DOYLE, who play call and response on Dirty Deal with the 'eighth band member' and CrossCut artist CARL WEATHERSBY.
Nine original songs and three covers: two songs by Denise LaSalle and I'm A Woman (a 1962 hit for Peggy Lee): 'Glad You're Mine' is a new, small, compact and modern masterpiece by a blues band that deserves a much wider acknowledgment worldwide.

Das vor drei Jahren erschienene 'Handyman'-Album dieser exquisiten Band aus Chicago wurde von Kritikern und Fans gleichermassen hoch gelobt und als eine der besten Veröffentlichungen jenes Jahres gepriesen.

Mit einem wahrlich ureigenen Stil und mit dem innovativen Harmonica-Spieler Pierre Lacocque als zentraler Figur spielen Mississippi Heat eine moderne Variante des Blues in Chicago. Regarded one of the best blues releases of 1999, it opened many doors for the band. With their new CrossCut production Mississippi Heat will win many, many new fans with their innovative interpretation of modern Chicago style blues. Bandleader is Pierre Lacocque. He's not only one of the leading exponents of innovative harmonica playing in the US today; he's also a talented and accomplished blues song writer. Along with managing brother Michel, he has discovered a new vocal talent: singer Inetta Visor, one of the best black voices I have heard in a long time. The band sounds tighter than on their last album. And the concept hasn't been changed. Carl Weathersby's guesting throughout, delivering some of the finest rhythm guitar you might expect. 'Handyman' was voted "Best Chicago Blues Album" by Canadian 'Real Blues Magazine', "One Of The Best Modern Blues Records From Chicago" by 'Living Blues Magazine' and received the best review value in French 'Soul Bag Magazine'.
We licensed the album for Europe but insisted on two newly recorded, never before released songs for our special European Digipak®-edition, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band.
Leader is Pierre Lacocque, harmonica ace. The music is a mix of traditional and modern blues. The band's one of the finest from Chicago. Great stuff!
